NextFab People: Yulia Novozhilova

The final countdown is on! NextFab Studio will soon be launching, and we’ve now posted interviews with nearly all of the NextFab team members. Last but not least, a quick interview with recent hire Yulia Novozhilova:

What is your special power?
Graphic and Web Design

Favorite piece of kit at NextFab Studio?
Right now I am testing the capabilities of Roland VersaCamm printer (print and cut technology) and I really enjoy it. The Laser Engraving/Cutting System Trotec Speedy 500 also looks very interesting.

What is your favorite fabrication project?
Probably because of my graphic design background, I find a PixelRoller quite amazing. (Ed. – PixelRoller is a paint roller that rolls pixels, so you can ‘print’ images by rolling paint onto a surface. Quite amazing indeed.)

What are you hoping to build at NextFab Studio?
I am planning on working on many small projects to experiment with various machines. For example, I really want to learn Processing and need a project to get started. I want to follow a tutorial for 3D printing from Processing. If I succeed I will post the results on the blog! (Ed. – we’ll hold you to that!)

Thanks for the link to my 3D printing tutorial. I wrote that a long time ago though. You may want to check out the toxiclibs. I haven’t used it but the toxi.geom package is supposed to generate STL files that can be sent to most printers. http://code.google.com/p/toxiclibs/
