Machine of the Week: Trotec Speedy 500
One of the cool new machines that will be available to NextFab Studio’s members is the Trotec Speedy 500 75 Watt laser engraver and cutter. This laser allows you to make clean and precise cuts in a wide range of materials, turning digital designs into custom 2D and 3D objects.
The Trotec is large enough to etch a glass door without removing the glass from the doorframe. It’s powerful enough to cut super-accurate shapes from 3/8″ thick acrylic. It has a rotary head, which allows etching and cutting onto 3D objects such as glassware, mugs, or baseball bats.
