Each presenter will have 15 mins to talk about their project followed by a brief Q&A session. Presentation slots are open to all level NextFab members (Standard, Weekend, Community). Slots are limited. If you are interested in presenting, please contact us to reserve your slot today!

Working with clients requires an artful touch no matter the industry, but when the product you’re pushing also requires an artful eye, creative differences can drive a wedge between creator and client. Join the Arts & Business Council of Greater Philadelphia as we explore the creative process through conversational case studies, which designers will discuss how they make the creative process work with their clients. Live models will walk attendees through their work from the inception of the idea to its implementation.

Every 3rd Thursday of the month, we wrap up work a little earlier than usual and get together for a beer and a snack with fellow NextFab folks. It's a NextFab tradition!
This month we will be meeting in our neighborhood bar The Sidecar Bar & Grille.

Carnival After Dark
PSF2013 Kick-off Party @ NextFab
This year, NextFab is hosting the kick-off event of the Philadelphia Science Festival, a ten-day, community-wide celebration of science that takes place annually in April, featuring lectures, debates, hands-on activities, special exhibitions and a variety of other informal science education experiences for Philadelphians of all ages.
Science Carnival for Grown-ups
Close your eyes and imagine a science wonderland, with hands-on activities just for adults. Kick-off the 2013 festival with live science shows and demonstrations all tailored to adults. Check out NextFab's laser cutters and 3-D printers, breathe smoke like a dragon, and make cocktails out of specialty paper. Be there as Yards taps the official festival beer!
PTW2013: Product Prototyping in 60 min
The tools required to design and prototype unique new products are friendlier and more accessible than ever before, so don't wait for others to turn your great idea into the next big thing.
In a step-by-step case study with live demonstrations, NextFab will show you how CAD, 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machining, and Arduino microcontrollers are combined to make a complete personalized urban lifestyle product.
This event is a part of Philly Tech Week 2013, a week-long celebration of technology and innovation in Philadelphia. The annual week of events is intended to grow the impact of this innovative region through programming focused on technology, collaboration and improving Philadelphia.
An Introduction to Mold Making and Casting
Camp ShopBot 2013
A ShopBot is an amazing do-all tool for precisely cutting, carving, drilling or machining all kinds of things from all kinds of materials such as wood, plastics, aluminum and more. At NextFab, we do have a ShopBot and we LOVE it!
It's great for rapid prototyping and production of small parts ready for assembly, as well as for cranking out repetitive parts or large components.
ShopBot Tool, Inc., the maker of the ShopBot regularly holds Camp ShopBot for current and prospective users in different parts of the country and this year NextFab will be the host for the North East region. It's a great opportunity to share the knowledge and meet other fellow users and learn new tricks and tips. If you never had use it before, you'll find out all you need to know to get started.
The highlight of the Camp will be the “Show and Tell”. Bring in something made using their ShopBot, and show-off your skill!
There will also be a discussion on how you might utilize a Shopbot in a business application, and if you are already doing so, you can hear from others how they have been able to keep their doors open in the current economy.

NextFab will be the host for one of the five nationwide casting calls for Shark Tank, the ABC hit entrepreneurship reality TV series. The first 500 entrepreneurs who show up are guaranteed to be seen by the “Shark Tank” casting team and will get to pitch their products, services or ideas.

NextFab, meet Etsy, Etsy, meet NextFab
NextFab and Etsy are a match made in heaven. There are quite a few NextFab members that are also Etsy users. How can we not love Etsy! We all love making things and buying things that are handmade, and we all love supporting small businesses and DIY culture.
NextFab is super excited to be hosting the Etsy Craft Party again this year! It will be coinciding with our monthly get-together: the NextFablous Social. It made perfect sense to combine the two into one.
Let's meet and greet fellow makers, crafters, and designers from around the city!
The theme for this year's party is COMMUNITY:
During the event we will work on a simple DIY Planter project. Materials and tools will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own supplies. You will be able to take your planter home with you at the conclusion of the event to share something green with your own community.
