About
NextFab Studio is a membership-based, high-tech workshop and prototyping center- it’s Philadelphia’s “gym for innovators”.
Located in the University City Science Center, on Philadelphia’s Avenue of Technology, our brand new 3600 square foot facility provides comfortable, clean, and safe workspaces with hand tools, 3D printers, computer controlled machine tools, software, and electronics workbenches. Expert instructors and a community of collaborators are on hand to help you problem-solve and achieve your vision. NextFab Studio has everything necessary for you to invent, repair, create, and innovate!
Core Programs
We provide:
- Innovation facility: state-of-the-art members-only workspace with high-end design and prototyping tools.
- Education: courses and workshops covering topics such as software and equipment use, design and engineering, and entrepreneurship.
- Technical services: in-house experts providing technical support for member projects, and product prototyping, and model-building on a contract basis for the community at large.
- Community: a place to connect and collaborate with a network of fellow innovators with wide-ranging skills and diverse perspectives.
- Retail sales: safety gear, raw materials, and tools.
Partnership
NextFab Studio, in cooperation with the Breadboard program of the University City Science Center, is seeking to partner with non-profits and educational institutions to reach out to students and those in need of new solutions, new skills and new options, including military veterans, the elderly, and the unemployed.
Facility
Our facility includes:
- Classroom, 30-seats, with high-definition audio-visual system for presentations and audi0-visual art and experimentation
- Lounge / sewing area with a sofa and worktables with digital embroidery, sewing, and serging machines
- Kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, microwave, and coffeemaker
- Bathrooms (2) – 1 ADA compliant, 1 powder-room
- Locker room with 2′ x 2′ x 2′ storage lockers
- Computer workstation room with 6 dual-screen high-performance workstations (PC and Mac)
- Wetlab with fume hood, vacuum pump, programmable oven, flammables storage, and sonicator
- Electronics prototyping area with bench test equipment, soldering stations, ESD-safe workbenches, inspection microscope, and more
- Prototyping workshop with small power and hand tools, 3D printers, small CNC mill, spray booth, and more
- Machine tools room with both CNC and manual metalworking and woodworking tools
